GTA 6 Release Date: November 19, 2026 and What to Do in Miami

The date is locked: November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Here is the confirmed timeline, what changed twice on the way, and the smartest way to spend launch week if you are already in South Florida.

Grand Theft Auto VI releases on November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. That date is confirmed by the publisher, and it has survived two delays. It is also, almost exactly, the date our first tours begin running: we open on the same weekend, because the single best thing a visitor to South Florida can do that week is see the city the game is built from.

The confirmed release date

The publisher's own site lists the release date and the platforms, and its parent company has confirmed it in its financial communications. There is no PC version listed on any official publisher, PlayStation or Microsoft page as of writing. If you are planning to play on PC, plan around that gap rather than assuming a later date.

How the date moved, and why that matters

The release date has been pushed twice, and both moves were announced with an unusual public apology. The pattern matters if you are trying to judge whether November 19 is safe: the publisher moved it once to a date it then moved again, and both announcements were framed around finishing the game to a standard rather than around any production problem.

AnnouncedDate at the timeChange
December 20232025First public date, revealed with Trailer 1
May 2, 2025May 26, 2026Pushed forward roughly seven months
November 6, 2025November 19, 2026Pushed back roughly six months, to a Friday

The final date is a Friday. That is deliberate: Friday release dates let the first weekend be a full three days of play, and let the game's opening weekend be the first one that counts for review aggregators and for people deciding what to buy.

What time does it unlock

No per-timezone unlock schedule has been published for launch, so treat any precise hour as speculation rather than fact. Historically, releases have unlocked at midnight Eastern Time, which is 9pm Pacific on the previous evening. If you are planning a watch party on the West Coast, plan for the evening of November 18, not the night of the 19th.

Pre-order editions

Pre-orders are open for the standard edition, the Ultimate Edition, and a bundle with the Vintage Vice City pack. The exact contents of each edition are on the official store pages and change more often than you would expect, so check there rather than trusting a wiki summary. Whichever you pick, the game itself is the same game.

What to do in Miami at launch

If you are in South Florida for launch week, you are in the best possible place, because you are standing in the city the game is modelled on. The neon strip, the causeway, the murals, the bay and the swamp are all within an hour of each other, and they are all still there in November.

  1. Book the sunset departure, not the daytime one. The game's identity is the neon, and the neon only runs for about forty minutes after sunset.
  2. Get on the water once. The trailer's establishing shot of Vice City is a jet ski on Biscayne Bay, and the real version is a two-hour loop past PortMiami, Fisher Island and Millionaire's Row.
  3. Go west, out of the city, for half a day. Grassrivers is the Everglades, and the contrast between the swamp and the strip is the whole point of the game.
  4. Do the Keys if you have the day. The Leonida Keys are the Florida Keys, and the Seven Mile Bridge is exactly where the game puts it.

What has not been announced

Quite a lot, and the gaps are worth knowing about if you are reading fan wikis. There is no published PC release, no published install size, no performance targets, no published map of any region, and no official list of real-world inspirations. Any page claiming the publisher has confirmed that a specific building is a specific in-game location is overstating what has been published.

What has been published is the official region copy for the six areas of Leonida, and that copy is the highest-quality primary source available. We quote it directly wherever it matters, and we separate it clearly from the community's location matching.
