Miami Launch Week: What to Do in South Florida from November 19

One week in the most popular city in America. What actually changes, which days are worth booking, and the three things that sell out first.

Causeway bridge and Miami skyline lit up at night

November 19, 2026 is going to bring a very large number of people to South Florida. If you are one of them, this page is the practical version: what actually changes, what does not, which days are worth paying for, and which parts of the city will be unusable.

What actually changes

It is worth being clear-eyed about this, because the internet will tell you the city is going to be unrecognisable. It will not be. Miami in launch week is a slightly busier version of a busy week.

  • Hotels and holiday rentals across Miami Beach, Brickell and Brickell's key districts will be at or near full occupancy, and rates will roughly double for the weekend.
  • Restaurants in the Art Deco strip, Brickell and Wynwood will need reservations several days ahead instead of a walk-in.
  • Parking is the real problem. It was always going to be; it will be worse from Thursday to Sunday.
  • Sunset and nighttime boat demand will spike hardest, because everyone has the same idea.
  • Airport traffic will be heavy on arrival days and heavy again on the Monday departure.

What does not change

  • The beaches. Nobody books out South Beach, and on a warm November day it will be as busy as it always is.
  • The murals. Wynwood is free, open and outdoors.
  • The food. The ventanitas and the Cuban restaurants on Calle Ocho will be full, which is normal.
  • The national parks. The Everglades and Everglades National Park are unaffected by anything happening in the city, 45 miles west.
  • The Keys, if you go midweek. The Overseas Highway does not become a different road.

Which days to book what

DayBook thisBecause
Wed 18The sunset boatEveryone arrives on the 18th and 19th, so the day before is the calmest
Thu 19Nothing expensiveThe city is at its busiest and the beaches are at their emptiest
Fri 20The boat, if you missed the 18thThe first weekend, the sky and the bay
Sat 21NothingWorst night of the week for traffic and restaurant queues
Sun 22Wynwood and the muralsOutdoors, free, and better on a walking day
Mon 23The EvergladesEveryone has gone home, and the park is completely unaffected
Tue 24The KeysMidweek traffic on the Overseas Highway is dramatically lighter

The single most valuable piece of advice on this page is the last two rows. The Everglades and the Keys do not care what is happening in Miami, and going to them on Monday and Tuesday instead of Saturday and Sunday will save you two hours of traffic each way and give you a better day out of it.

The three things that sell out first

  1. Sunset boat seats. Capacity is fixed by the number of seats on the boat, and they go first. If you want a sunset departure in launch week, book it weeks ahead and take the first slot you can get.
  2. Restaurants in the Deco strip and Brickell, for the same reason, but the fix is easier: reserve, and be flexible about the time.
  3. Airboat and Keys tour seats, if you are coming for those specifically. Both run on fixed schedules with a fixed vehicle, so the late slots go early.

A launch-week day that actually works

This is the itinerary we would actually build, and it is designed to be immune to the crowds.

  1. Early morning: the beach at South Pointe, before 8am, while the sand is still empty and the water is flat.
  2. Mid-morning: the Art Deco walk on Ocean Drive, on foot, from 12th Street north. The buildings do not get busier and you can always walk on the beach side of the road.
  3. Lunch: Little Havana, where the loudness is the same every week of the year.
  4. Afternoon: the pool, or the Pérez Art Museum, or a boat to an island. Avoid driving between 4 and 7pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
  5. Sunset: on the water, which is the whole reason to be here, and which is why the boat is the first thing to book.
  6. Night: dinner early and the neon walk on foot afterwards, going north on Ocean Drive, because a car in that strip is a mistake.

Getting around

The honest advice is to walk more than you think you need to and to drive less. South Beach, Brickell and Wynwood are all connected by the causeway and the expressway, and the traffic on both of them during launch weekend is the single most reliable way to ruin a day.

  • Rent the car for the days you need it and return it for the rest. Parking in the Deco strip is a nightmare and a valet is $30 or more.
  • If you are staying in South Beach, you do not need a car at all for two of the three days.
  • If you are doing the Everglades or the Keys, take a tour with the transfer included rather than driving yourself on the worst weekend of the year.
  • Use the expressway, not the Turnpike, and never try to cross Miami Beach on Ocean Drive during the evening peak.

What we would book, in order

  1. The sunset boat, first, and take the earliest slot on the 18th.
  2. The airboat tour for the Monday, second.
  3. The Keys trip for the Tuesday, third.
  4. Restaurants for the 19th and 20th, as soon as they release bookings.
  5. Everything else when you get there, because everything else is walk-up.

Frequently asked questions

Is Miami going to be packed during the November 2026 launch week?

Miami Beach, Brickell and Wynwood will be busier than normal, and hotels and restaurants there will need booking. The beaches, the murals, the national parks and the Keys will be essentially unchanged.

What should I book first for a Miami launch week trip?

The sunset boat, because capacity is fixed by the number of seats. Then restaurants in the Art Deco strip and Brickell, then the Everglades or Keys tours for the Monday and Tuesday.

Which days are least busy in Miami during launch week?

Monday the 23rd and Tuesday the 24th, once the weekend crowds have gone. The Everglades and the Keys are noticeably better on those days than on the Saturday.

Do I need a car during the Miami launch week?

For South Beach, no. For the Everglades and the Keys, take a tour with the transfer included rather than driving on the busiest weekend of the year. Miami's traffic between 4 and 7pm on Thursday to Saturday is the worst of it.

How much will hotel prices rise for the Miami launch?

Roughly double for the weekend on Miami Beach and in Brickell, and less outside those areas. Book early and consider staying a little further north or inland, where the shuttle to the beach is short.
