GTA 6 Map: The Six Regions of Leonida and Where They Are
Six official regions, one fictional state, and a surprising amount of real Florida underneath. Here is the official copy for each region next to the geography it borrows from.

Six regions have been published for Leonida, each with its own heading, standfirst and paragraph on the official Only in Leonida page. That copy is the best primary source available, and quoting it is more useful than paraphrasing it, because the copy is written as atmosphere while the geography underneath is quietly specific.
The six regions, with the official copy
Vice City
"Everything in Excess." "We're a long way from the '80s, but Vice City is still the sun and fun capital of America. The glamour, hustle, and greed of America captured in a single city. Each neighborhood has something to offer, from the pastel art deco hotels and bright white sands of Ocean Beach, to the bustling panaderias of Little Cuba and the bootleg brands of the Tisha-Wocka flea market, out to the VC Port, the cruise ship capital of the world."
The real place: Miami and Miami Beach, Florida. Why: the copy names Ocean Beach, Little Cuba and the VC Port, and the port is PortMiami on Dodge Island.
Leonida Keys
"Gateway to Paradise." "The dress code is casual, the bars are loaded. Life in this tropical archipelago isn't flashy but it's easy. Get your buzz on and pull up a deck chair but look out, you are right on the doorstep of some of the most beautiful and dangerous waters in all of America."
The real place: the Florida Keys. Why: a tropical archipelago with a bar culture, on the edge of genuinely dangerous water, is a description of the Keys and only the Keys.
Grassrivers
"Welcome to the Wetlands." "The untamable jewel of Leonida's crown. You never know what lies beneath the surface of this primordial expanse. The gators may be the most famous attraction, but there are far deadlier predators and weirder discoveries among the mangroves."
The real place: the Everglades. Why: gators and mangroves and a primordial expanse, in a state that has exactly one of those.
Port Gellhorn
"Live Hard." "This is Leonida's forgotten coast. Cheap motels, shut-down attractions, and empty strip malls won't bring the tourists back, but there's a new economy in this once-popular vacation spot. It's fueled by malt liquor, painkillers, and truck stop energy drinks. Jump on a dirt bike and hold onto your wallet."
The real place: Panama City, Florida. Why: a once-popular Gulf resort town with closed attractions and empty strip malls is a precise description of Panama City's beach strip. The dirt bike and the stop-work economy are the game's addition.
Ambrosia
"Keeping Leonida Sweet." "The battle for the health and wealth of Leonida begins here. In the heart of Leonida, American industry and old school values still reign supreme, whatever the cost. The Allied Crystal sugar refinery provides the jobs, while the local biker gang provides almost everything else."
The real place: Clewiston and the U.S. Sugar mill on Lake Okeechobee. Why: a company town built around a single sugar refinery, on the shore of a big shallow lake, is exactly what Clewiston is. The refinery has been the town's reason to exist since the 1920s.
Mount Kalaga National Park
"Wild, Wild Country." "Room to breathe on the state's northern fringes. A national landmark up against the state's northern border, Mount Kalaga offers prime hunting, fishing, and off-road trails. In the lush surrounding backwoods, hillbilly mystics and paranoid radicals live far from the prying eyes of the government."
The real place: Providence Canyon State Park in south-west Georgia. Why: the canyon's eroded red clay walls are the visual match, and the park's remoteness matches the copy's geography. This is the one region where the prototype is outside Florida entirely.
Reading the six together
The structure is consistent. Every region gets an economic base and a source of danger, and the copy is careful never to describe a mechanic. The publisher writes "offers prime hunting, fishing, and off-road trails", which describes the park as a place; it does not announce a hunting system, and no official page describes how anything works.
| Region | Economic base | The danger | Real place |
|---|---|---|---|
| Vice City | Tourism and crime | The criminal economy | Miami |
| Leonida Keys | Bars and boats | The water | Florida Keys |
| Grassrivers | None given | The environment | Everglades |
| Port Gellhorn | A post-tourism economy | Cheap intoxicants | Panama City |
| Ambrosia | The Allied Crystal refinery | The biker gang | Clewiston |
| Mount Kalaga | None given | Hermits and radicals | Georgia |
That table is our editorial arrangement, not the publisher's taxonomy, and it is useful as a filter: any claim about a region's character that falls outside those lines is almost certainly inference rather than something the studio has written down.
The county grid underneath
Beneath the six regions sits a second layer: a Florida-style county grid. Three county names have actually been seen on screen in official footage: Vice-Dale, on a police seal in the in-game Mega Noticias newscast in Trailer 2; Kelly County, read from roadside signage; and Leonard County, on a police vehicle in an in-game social media post. The remaining county names are community reconstruction.
The mapping community's reading lines Vice-Dade up with Miami-Dade, Leonard with Broward, Ambrosia with Hendry County, Kelly with a Collier and Panhandle blend, and Mariana with Monroe County, which covers the Keys and the Everglades together. It is a clean scheme, and it is inference rather than canon, but the three confirmed names all point the same way.
How far apart are these places really
Leonida compresses hard. The Keys run more than a hundred miles from Key Largo to Key West, and Clewiston is about sixty miles inland from the Gulf. In the game, all of it sits inside one map, and a drive from Vice City to Mount Kalaga covers ground that would take four real hours.
If you are planning a trip based on the game's geography, this is the part that will trip you up. The game is one state. The real thing is a 400-mile diagonal across two states, and the Everglades alone is bigger than the game's Vice City region.
Which of the six you can actually stand in
- Vice City and Leonida Keys are the two you will want most, and both are within a short drive of Miami.
- Grassrivers is a half-day from Downtown Miami and is the single easiest region to verify, because the Everglades is unmistakable from the first minute of an airboat ride.
- Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga are all real, all visitable, and all a serious drive: Panama City is about eight hours from Miami, Clewiston about three, and Providence Canyon is further still.
Frequently asked questions
How many regions are in GTA 6's Leonida?
Six, according to the official Only in Leonida page: Vice City, Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga National Park.
What is Mount Kalaga National Park based on?
The community match is Providence Canyon State Park in south-west Georgia, whose eroded clay canyon walls match the game's rock formations. It is the only region whose prototype is not in Florida.
What is Ambrosia in GTA 6 based on?
Clewiston, Florida, on Lake Okeechobee, where the U.S. Sugar mill has been the town's economic centre since the 1920s. The Allied Crystal refinery is a renamed version of it.
Is Port Gellhorn Panama City?
That is the strongest community identification: a once-popular Gulf resort town with shut-down attractions and empty strip malls matches Panama City's beach strip closely. It has not been officially confirmed.
How big is Leonida compared to Florida?
Smaller in area but far more compressed in practice. The game's map holds the Keys, the Everglades, the Panhandle, the sugar belt and north Georgia, which in reality are spread across roughly 400 miles.
