The VICE sign
Every open-world game needs one sign that says the place name, and GTA VI has the VICE sign: the tall illuminated letters on a metal frame beside the airport. It has been shown in official material, and mapping projects place it on the western edge of the city near the airport's runway approach, where a driver would pass it on the way in.

How confident are we?
The sign is described in official material and reproduced by mapping projects, but the exact real-world structure is less firmly established than the other landmarks on this page.
The sign is the kind of object that is easy to remember and hard to pin down. It is tall, it is lit, it is next to an approach, and it is on the flat western side of the map. Those four constraints narrow the search area to a handful of square miles around the airport.
What is confirmed and what is not
Confirmed: official material shows a large Vice City sign near the airport, and its placement in the game is fixed. Not confirmed: no official source has published the address of a real sign, and the coordinates below reflect the best-supported community placement rather than a confirmed prototype.
| Detail | The real thing |
|---|---|
| In-game name | Vice City Sign |

Why it is hard to pin down
The game exaggerates scale. Signage, bridges and towers are typically rendered larger than life in the game world, and the sign is set in open ground where the real object would be smaller and lower than the game makes it look. That is the general reason an identification can be well-supported in direction and still be imprecise on the metre.
How we label this one
This is the one entry on this page where we lead with the uncertainty. Our rule is simple: we state what is officially shown, we state what the community has proposed, and we do not present the proposal as fact. If you are writing about it, quote the official description and attribute the location to the mapping community.
What to do instead
If the goal is the photograph rather than the forensic match, the real roadside signs around Miami International Airport and along the Airport Expressway are the equivalent shot, and the hotel and building signage on Ocean Drive is where the game's Vice Beach identity actually comes from. The Clevelander at 1020 Ocean Drive is the version of this idea you can actually stand in front of.
What the game is doing
A sign that names the place is how an open world tells you where you are in the first ten seconds of play. A monumental version of it sits on the approach to the city, which means it is a landmark by design: something you drive towards, something that appears on the horizon before the skyline does.
Frequently asked questions
Where is the real VICE sign?
Nobody knows for certain. It is shown in official footage near the airport, and mapping projects place it on the western edge of the city near the airport's runway approach, but no official real-world address has been published. We treat it as a community identification, not a confirmed match.
Why is this less certain than the other entries?
Because there is a single object with no building behind it to match against. The other landmarks on this page are confirmed by architecture, position and surrounding context; a roadside sign has only its shape and its position to go on.
What is the closest confirmed match?
The Clevelander on Ocean Drive, which carries the neon identity of Vice Beach, and the real signage on Ocean Drive itself.
